Srinagar, July 23: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo on Thursday reviewed preparations for the annual Urs of Hazrat Sultan-ul-Arifeen Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom (RA) at Makhdoom Sahib Shrine and later visited Sharika Devi Temple at Hari Parbat to participate in the Sharika Jayanti celebrations.

Accompanied by senior civil, police and line department officers, the Deputy Commissioner inspected arrangements at the shrine, including drinking water, electricity, sanitation, traffic management, parking, street lighting and healthcare facilities.
Interacting with shrine management members and local representatives, Labroo sought suggestions to further improve facilities for the large number of devotees expected during the Urs. He directed the Srinagar Municipal Corporation to ensure cleanliness, address the stray dog menace and keep all streetlights functional in the area.
He also instructed the Power Development Department to ensure uninterrupted electricity, the Health Department to establish a first-aid camp, and all line departments to complete arrangements well in time while maintaining close coordination for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the Urs.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited Sharika Devi Temple at Hari Parbat and participated in the Sharika Jayanti celebrations. He paid obeisance at the temple, extended greetings to devotees and reviewed arrangements made for the occasion.
The celebrations were held in a peaceful atmosphere with active participation of devotees, volunteers and members of the Kashmiri Pandit community.
Labroo appreciated the coordinated efforts of all departments, temple management and volunteers in ensuring the successful and smooth conduct of the religious event.
Sharika Jayanti is one of the most revered festivals of the Kashmiri Pandit community and holds immense spiritual and cultural significance, symbolising faith, harmony and Jammu and Kashmir's rich composite heritage.
