DG AR honours Veer Nari at National War Memorial

New Delhi, July 4: In a moving tribute to the nation's fallen heroes, the Veer Nari of Rifleman Gopal Chand, who was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra (KC) and served with the 15 Assam Rifles, laid a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi to honour her late husband and all brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.

The solemn ceremony was marked by deep emotion and reverence, symbolising the nation's enduring gratitude for the courage, dedication and selfless service of its martyrs. The tribute reaffirmed that the sacrifices of India's brave soldiers will forever remain etched in the country's collective memory and continue to inspire future generations.
Paying homage at the National War Memorial, the Veer Nari remembered the unparalleled sacrifice of her husband, who laid down his life in the line of duty while upholding the highest traditions of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles.
On the occasion, Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of Assam Rifles, interacted with the Veer Nari and expressed profound respect for the courage, resilience and unwavering strength displayed by the families of the nation's bravehearts.
He reaffirmed Assam Rifles' steadfast commitment to the welfare and well-being of the Next of Kin of its personnel, assuring them of the Force's continued support and solidarity.
