DG AR joins vibrant villages workshop led by HM Amit Shah

Hon’ble Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah today presided over the Vibrant Villages Programme Workshop organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Border Management Division) in New Delhi. The high-level event, held on August 25, 2025, focused on developmental strategies to strengthen border villages, especially in remote and strategic locations.
Among the key participants was Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of Assam Rifles, whose presence highlighted the critical role of security forces in enabling developmental activities in border regions. The event was also attended by MoS for Home Affairs Shri Nityanand Rai, MoS Shri Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and several senior officials and stakeholders.
The workshop provided a platform to discuss integrated development plans aimed at enhancing infrastructure, connectivity, education, healthcare, and livelihood opportunities for communities living along India’s international borders. It aligns with the government’s larger vision of reversing migration trends by creating sustainable living conditions and promoting economic growth in frontier areas.
DG Assam Rifles shared insights on the force's "Sentinels of the Northeast" role and its civic-action programmes, which have been instrumental in building trust, delivering services, and supporting development in isolated villages.
The Vibrant Villages Programme is a flagship initiative to ensure that no border village is left behind, transforming them into self-sustaining, secure, and thriving communities, thereby bolstering national security and regional development in tandem.
