DG Assam Rifles addresses FAT in Shillong

Shillong, Oct 12: Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of Assam Rifles, addressed the Forward Area Tour (FAT) of Higher Command Course-54 (HCC-54) and Naval Higher Command Course-38 (NHCC-38) at DG Assam Rifles Headquarters, Laitkor, Shillong on October 12, 2025.

During his address, the DG highlighted the strategic and multifaceted role of Assam Rifles as the “Sentinels of the North East,” underlining its contribution to peace, security, and stability in the region. He elaborated on the Force’s responsibilities, including border management, counter-insurgency operations, and community development initiatives that foster progress and harmony across North East India.
Lt Gen Lakhera emphasized the importance of leadership, coordination, and operational readiness, encouraging participants to internalize the Force’s ethos of service, vigilance, and dedication.
The session provided a comprehensive understanding of the Assam Rifles’ role in ensuring national security while simultaneously promoting socio-economic development in remote and sensitive areas.
