Kohima, April 7: Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, Director General of #AssamRifles, called on the Hon’ble Governor of Nagaland, Shri Nand Kishor Yadav, at Lok Bhavan, Kohima, on 07 April 2026. The high-level meeting focused on issues relating to security, development, and collaboration between the Assam Rifles and the State administration.

During the discussion, Lt Gen Lakhera briefed the Governor on the Corps’ ongoing initiatives in maintaining peace, supporting civil administration, and promoting welfare and development activities across Nagaland. Emphasis was placed on the Assam Rifles’ dual role in ensuring internal security and fostering community engagement through infrastructure development, disaster response, and civic cooperation.
Governor Yadav appreciated the vital contributions of the Assam Rifles in ensuring stability and law and order in the State. He noted that the Corps’ proactive engagement with local communities and coordination with State authorities has been instrumental in strengthening trust, reducing conflicts, and enabling socio-economic development in remote areas.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of continued synergy between the Assam Rifles and the State government to address security challenges while promoting inclusive development and harmony in the region. The meeting reinforced mutual commitment toward peace, stability, and the welfare of citizens, highlighting Assam Rifles’ enduring role as both a security force and a community partner in Nagaland.
