DG Assam Rifles pays homage to martyr

Shillong, June 27: Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of the Assam Rifles, along with all ranks of the force, paid solemn tribute to a brave soldier who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on June 27, 1963. The occasion was observed with deep respect and remembrance, honoring the courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment of the martyr who laid down his life in service to the nation.

On this day, the Assam Rifles fraternity reaffirmed its collective resolve to uphold the values for which the soldier sacrificed his life—duty, honor, and country. Senior officers and personnel across various formations remembered the fallen hero, acknowledging his contribution to the long and proud legacy of the Assam Rifles, often referred to as the “Sentinels of the Northeast.”
