
Lekhapani/Vijaynagar, Jan 21: Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of Assam Rifles, visited the Assam Rifles Headquarters at Lekhapani and the forward post at Vijaynagar on January 21, 2026, to review security arrangements and operational preparedness in Arunachal Pradesh.
During the visit, he was briefed on the prevailing security situation, intelligence inputs, operational readiness, and administrative measures across Tirap, Changlang, Longding, and Namsai districts. The Director General also appreciated welfare initiatives undertaken for troops deployed in challenging frontier areas.
At the Vijaynagar post, Lt Gen Lakhera expressed satisfaction with the vigilance and preparedness of the troops. He interacted with serving personnel, ex-servicemen, members of the Gorkha community, and representatives of the local Lishu tribe, emphasizing the importance of community engagement and morale-building.
The visit also coincided with the Pangsau Pass International Festival, where the Director General witnessed the celebrations, highlighting the strong civil-military synergy in the region.
