DIPR holds cultural show at Yusmarg

Budgam, July 16: The Cultural Unit Kashmir of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) today organised a day-long cultural programme at the scenic tourist destination of Yusmarg, captivating visitors with vibrant performances while spreading awareness about the growing menace of drug abuse.

The event showcased the rich cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir through a variety of traditional and contemporary performances. The major attractions included the traditional Bhaand Pather, Bacha Naghma, folk music presentations, and a thought-provoking skit based on the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan (NMJKA), highlighting the adverse consequences of substance abuse and the importance of collective efforts in building a drug-free society.
A large number of visitors, including tourists from different parts of the country, gathered at the venue and thoroughly enjoyed the performances. The programme served as a unique blend of entertainment, cultural preservation and social awareness.
The event was also attended by officers and officials of the Joint Directorate of Information Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, the officers highlighted the importance of organising cultural programmes at tourist destinations to promote tourism, preserve Kashmir's rich cultural heritage and create awareness about important social issues, particularly drug abuse among youth.
Tourists and visitors appreciated the initiative of DIPR, stating that such programmes not only provide quality entertainment but also introduce audiences to the rich folk theatre, music and cultural traditions of Kashmir. They noted that the performances effectively conveyed important social messages, encouraged civic responsibility and promoted awareness about contemporary challenges facing society.
The audience lauded the Department for organising cultural outreach programmes at tourist destinations, describing them as an effective medium for fostering cultural understanding, social awareness and meaningful public engagement.
