
In order to sensitize students about Free Legal Aid & Rights of Transgender Children and harmful effects of drug abuse, sexual abuse and trafficking, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar, organised an awareness programme in collaboration with School Education department at Higher Secondary School Gund Hassi Bhat.
The event was held under the chairmanship of Tasleem Arief, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar.
Students, faculty members, and legal experts ensured their participation in the programme, which aimed to equip students with knowledge about the psychological, social, and legal consequences of substance abuse.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Legal Aid Defense Counsel emphasized the importance of early intervention and peer support in curbing addiction and promoting a safe and respectful school environment.
Panel Lawyer sensitized the participants about the availability of free legal aid services under section 12 of the Legal Services Authority Act 1987 and also made them aware of the 15100 NALSA Helpline for immediate legal assistance. She also delivered lecture on Sexual abuse, trafficking and issues faced by Transgender Children, explaining the legal provisions and role of DLSA in extending protection and rehabilitation.
Principal of the school appreciated the efforts of DLSA Srinagar in educating students and expressed hope that such initiatives would bring about positive behavioral change.
Similar programme was held at GHSS Kothibagh.
