Doda, Sep 27: District Police Doda today organised a Wrestling (Dangal) Competition at Government Higher Secondary School, Berraru (Malnai) under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2026-27. Wrestlers from across the country and those from different parts of District Doda participated in the Competition inaugurated by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammad Aslam.

The programme witnessed a vibrant atmosphere, with spectators turning up in large numbers and extending enthusiastic support to the participating wrestlers. The gathering reflected the strong sporting and cultural spirit of the region.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartik Shrotriya; SDPO Bhaderwah, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DAR), Assistant Commissioner Development and other police and civil officers were present on the occasion. The heads of Government Higher Secondary School Berraru and Government Higher Secondary School for Girls Doda also attended the programme.
The bouts were intense and closely contested, drawing the attention and appreciation of a large gathering of spectators. The Wrestling (Dangal) Competition provided a platform to local wrestlers to showcase their talent alongside experienced wrestlers from different parts of the country, while promoting the traditional sport and encouraging youth participation in sporting activities.
SSP Kartik Shrotriya appreciated District Police and all the associated organizers for providing a meaningful platform for sports and community participation. He also hailed the dedication and discipline displayed by the participating wrestlers, observing that their preparation, physical fitness, balanced lifestyle and commitment to regular practice offer valuable lessons for the youth.
He encouraged young people to adopt healthy habits, remain physically active, take care of their bodies and pursue sports and other positive activities instead of falling into substance abuse. He further emphasised that creating a Nasha Mukt society is a collective responsibility requiring the active participation of families, educational institutions, community members, civil administration and the police.
As a gesture of encouragement and appreciation, District Police Doda presented cash prizes among all participating wrestling teams in recognition of their participation and sporting spirit.
