
SSP reviews tourist safety measures with stakeholders at Pahalgam
Anantnag, Jan 20: Police held a coordination meeting at Pahalgam with hotel owners, taxi and pony operators, ATV bikers and other tourism stakeholders to strengthen tourist safety during the winter season.
The meeting was chaired by SSP Anantnag Amritpal Singh, who stressed collective responsibility in ensuring a safe and secure environment for visitors.
“Key directions issued included maintain proper records of all guests, ensure safety and security of tourists at all times, no use of drones in restricted or sensitive areas, do not take tourists to unsafe or off-limits locations, timely submission of Form C with complete and correct details to Police Station Pahalgam,” a police spokesman said.
SSP Anantnag said compliance will be closely monitored and appreciated the cooperation of stakeholders.
“J&K Police reiterated its commitment to safe tourism in Pahalgam and urged the public to report any suspicious activity promptly,” added the police spokesman.
On April 22, 2025, terrorists attacked tourists at Baisaran meadows in Pahalgam, killing 25 tourists and a local ponywala, who attempted to snatch a weapon from one of the attackers.
The three Pakistani terrorists involved in the terror attack were killed in an encounter by security forces in Dachigam forest area in the outskirts of Srinagar in July.
