
Jammu, Feb 12: The government clarified that regulating websites, digital platforms, and online news channels is not under the Information Department’s mandate. DIPR has issued 28 rebuttals against fake news since April 2025.
A dedicated Media Monitoring Cell tracks misinformation in real-time, while inter-departmental consultations continue for the Draft New Media Policy-2026, which will propose regulatory frameworks for digital, social, and print media. Cybersecurity audits, crisis plans, and capacity-building initiatives have also been strengthened across departments.
