A driver of a passenger vehicle was killed and three passengers injured after a boulder struck the vehicle in the Khari area of Banihal.
The passenger vehicle was en route to Trana village from the Khari tehsil headquarters when the incident occurred on the Trana link road.
A sudden shooting stone/ boulder rolled down the hillside, crashing into the moving vehicle, police said.
The driver died on the spot due to the impact of the boulder.
Three passengers travelling in the vehicle were injured. They were shifted to SDH Banihal, where from they were referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for specialised treatment.
The deceased driver has been identified as Mohammad Iqbal, son of Abdul Rasheed Khanday R/o Ramban while the injured have been identified as Bahar Ahmed Malik, Mansoora Begum and 10 month baby Mohammad Saad.
