Dussehra celebrated with traditional fervour in Valley

The city witnessed vibrant celebrations of Dussehra on Wednesday, marked by the burning of effigies symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. A large section of residents gathered at various localities to witness the traditional festivities, adding color and enthusiasm to the cultural event.
Kashmiri Pandits were seen in significant numbers participating in the celebrations, offering prayers and performing rituals with devotion. Carrying out the symbolic act of burning the effigy of Ravana, they reiterated the age-old message of victory of virtue over vice.
“This festival is not just about tradition; it is a message of hope, peace, and unity,” said one of the participants. “We pray for peace, brotherhood, and communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in Kashmir, so that everyone can live together in safety and goodwill.”
The celebrations brought together people from diverse communities, fostering a spirit of togetherness. Cultural performances, traditional music, and community feasts accompanied the ritual, making the event a lively and meaningful experience for all attendees.
Authorities ensured smooth conduct of the celebrations, maintaining security and facilitating the gathering while allowing citizens to enjoy the festival in a safe environment.
The Dussehra festivities in Srinagar this year stood as a reminder of Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage and the enduring message of harmony, cooperation, and the triumph of good over evil.
