
Pulwama/Shopian, Jan 28: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary today undertook an extensive tour of the snow-bound areas of Pulwama and Shopian districts to assess the post-snowfall situation and review the progress of ongoing development works.
During the visit, the Deputy Chief Minister held review meetings with heads of concerned departments, focusing on snow clearance, restoration of essential services, and implementation of developmental projects. He was accompanied by legislators Shabir Ahmad Kullay, Showkat Hussain Zainapora, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Mir, and Vice Chairman DDC Pulwama Mukhtar Ahmad Bandh.
Deputy Commissioner Shopian Shishir Gupta, Chief Engineer PMGSY/MED/R&B South Kashmir, ADCs of Pulwama and Shopian, and other senior officers attended the meetings.
Choudhary visited snow-affected areas including Pulwama, Rajpora, Kashbayar, Chek-Badrinath, Shajimarg, and adjoining localities, besides touring Shopian, Imam Sahab, Mimandar, and surrounding areas to take firsthand stock of restoration efforts.
He directed departments to ensure prompt restoration of road connectivity, uninterrupted essential services, and time-bound completion of all development works. Stressing public convenience, the Deputy Chief Minister called for close inter-departmental coordination and deployment of all available machinery to mitigate hardships caused by snowfall.
During the tour, he also interacted with public delegations, heard their grievances, and assured them of early redressal of genuine issues.
