Shillong, Oct 29: The All Saints Hall in Shillong came alive on Tuesday as students of Assam Rifles Public School (ARPS) captivated the audience with an “Empathy Song” and a thought-provoking Nukkad Natak promoting kindness, compassion, and inclusion. The performances marked the opening of the Empathy Exhibition, an initiative under Project Empathy, aimed at weaving emotional intelligence and empathy into the educational framework of young learners.
During the event, the Founder of Project Empathy unveiled an ambitious vision — the establishment of The Indian Empathy Institution, dedicated to promoting empathy-based learning across schools in India. The institution aims to integrate empathy education into mainstream curricula, nurturing emotionally aware and socially responsible citizens.
Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of Assam Rifles, graced the occasion as chief guest and highlighted the Assam Rifles’ commitment to fostering empathy and harmony among diverse communities in the North East. He emphasised that empathy is not merely an emotion but a bridge that connects people beyond differences of culture, faith, and background.
The exhibition, which runs from October 29 to 31 at All Saints Hall, invites the public to experience how art, dialogue, and storytelling can heal, connect, and inspire individuals to build a more compassionate society.
