Shillong, Oct 27: A three-day art exhibition titled “Empathy Through Art” opened today at All Saints Hall, Shillong, bringing together the creative expressions of students from Assam Rifles Public Schools across the Northeast and leading institutions including St. Edmund’s, NIFT Shillong, Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU), and Army Public School Happy Valley.
The exhibition, organised under the theme of empathy and human connection, seeks to highlight the power of art as a universal language that transcends differences and fosters understanding. The event features an inspiring collection of paintings, sketches, sculptures, and mixed media works — each a reflection of compassion, courage, and the shared human experience.
Students from diverse backgrounds have come together to convey powerful social messages through their artwork. From depictions of environmental harmony and mental health awareness to portrayals of resilience in the face of adversity, every canvas tells a story of kindness and collective hope.
Officials from Assam Rifles, educators, and art enthusiasts attended the inaugural ceremony, commending the young artists for their creativity and emotional depth. The initiative forms part of Assam Rifles’ broader outreach programme aimed at nurturing cultural exchange, creativity, and emotional intelligence among the youth.
Speaking at the inauguration, an Assam Rifles official said, “Empathy lies at the heart of human connection. Through this exhibition, we hope to inspire the younger generation to use art as a means to understand, express, and uplift one another.”
The exhibition will remain open to visitors till October 29, offering the public a glimpse into how young minds envision a world grounded in compassion and unity — a world where art becomes a bridge between hearts and communities.
