Police arrests 3 drug peddlers in Kashmir

Continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested 3 drug peddlers in Baramulla, Sopore and Pulwama. Contraband substances were recovered from their possession.
In Baramulla, a police party of Police Station Tangmarg headed by SHO PS Tangmarg at a checkpoint established at Hospital Crossing Tangmarg intercepted one person. During search, 50 grams of contraband Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Khan son of Mohammad Sultan Wani resident of Chountpathri Tangmarg. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Tangmarg where he remains in custody.
In Pulwama, a police party led by SHO Police Station Kakapora at a checkpoint established near Railway Crossing intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search, Brown Sugar like substance concealed in a polythene bag and a digital weighing machine was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Irfan Ayoub Khan son of Mohd Ayoub Khan resident of Begumbagh. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
In Sopore, police received a specific input about possession of narcotics substance by one Muhammad Altaf Dar son of Ghulam Qadir Dar resident of Mumkak, Sopore. On receipt of this information, a Police party led by SHO PS Sopore, under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Shri Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS, executed a meticulously planned raid at the residence of the said accused. During search, huge quantity of psychotropic substances including 2016 capsules of spasmoproxyvon (84 strips) were recovered and the accused was promptly arrested.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.
We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
