Jammu, August 8: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Jammu has filed a chargesheet before the court of JMIC Sunderbani against a resident of Bhajwal in connection with the alleged encroachment of state land.

According to officials, the chargesheet has been filed against Yash Paul, son of Kundan Lal and a resident of Bhajwal village in Sunderbani, for allegedly occupying 2 Kanal and 11 Marla of state land falling under Khasra Nos. 3913/3914.

The case originated from FIR No. 39/2022 registered at Police Station Crime Branch (EOW) Jammu following a written complaint by Acharya Rajesh Kumar Prashar. The complaint alleged that the accused had encroached upon state and forest land allegedly in connivance with revenue and forest officials.

During the investigation, officials found that Mutation No. 4193, dated September 5, 2018, had allegedly been attested in violation of government orders. Following quasi-judicial proceedings, the mutation was declared null and void from the beginning by the ADC Sunderbani in December 2022 and subsequently cancelled from the revenue records.

Officials said a team of revenue authorities conducted a demarcation of the disputed land in the presence of forest officials. The demarcation report confirmed the alleged encroachment of 2 Kanal and 11 Marla of state land under Khasra Nos. 3913/3914 in Bhajwal village.

Based on the evidence gathered during the investigation, officials said the allegations were substantiated and the probe was completed with the filing of the chargesheet before the JMIC Sunderbani court, along with a list of witnesses and seized documents.

The Crime Branch EOW Jammu has urged the public to remain vigilant against land-related fraud and encroachment and to report such cases to the SSP Crime Branch EOW Jammu.
