
A fire broke out in the Shaheed Gunj area of Srinagar on Tuesday afternoon, prompting an immediate response from Fire and Emergency Services, officials said.
Officials said the blaze erupted in the attic portion of a residential house in the densely populated Shaheed Gunj locality. Multiple fire tenders were rushed to the spot, and firefighting operations were launched to control the flames.
Eyewitnesses said thick plumes of smoke were seen rising from the area as locals, along with police personnel, assisted firemen in rescue and containment efforts.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Officials said the firefighting operation was still underway at the time of filing this report.
