A massive fire broke out in Srinagar’s Shaheed Gunj area on Saturday morning, engulfing multiple residential houses and causing panic among residents.
An official said the blaze started in the early hours and rapidly spread, consuming at least five houses before fire services arrived. The exact number of damaged houses is still being assessed.
Fire and Emergency Services, along with local police and CRPF personnel, swiftly reached the site and managed to contain the fire, preventing further destruction. SHO Shaheed Gunj Hilal Darzi and 49 BN CRPF personnel assisted in the operation.
Residents described scenes of chaos as thick smoke and flames spread quickly, forcing families to flee their homes. While no casualties were reported, the fire caused significant property loss.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
