
As part of its ongoing youth engagement and public outreach initiatives, J&K Police have organised Cycle Race events under the banner of Fit India Movement in Kupwara, Kulgam, Ganderbal, Shopian, Handwara & Awantipora.
In Kupwara, J&K Police organized a Cycle Marathon in the district aimed at promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship and community engagement among the youth. The cycle marathon commenced from Dak-Bungalow via Bypass-road and passed through Bohipura, Gushi, Mughalpora, Bumhama, before concluding back at Dak Bungalow, Kupwara. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from cyclists across different age groups who displayed great energy and spirit throughout the route. To encourage the participants, Kupwara Police arranged refreshments at the culmination point. The gesture was warmly welcomed and added to the vibrancy of the event.
In Kulgam, Youth especially students of different institutions of district participated in the cycle race with great enthusiasm. During the pre-flag off ceremony held at DPL Kulgam, Officers of J&K police interacted with the participants and expressed importance of nurturing the sportsmanship spirit among the youth especially students. The event ended with a prize distribution ceremony where cash rewards, mementos and certificates were distributed among the winners and participants of the event. Besides refreshments were provided among all the participants.
In Ganderbal, J&K Police organised a Cycle Race from Manigam to Sumbal Bridge under the banner of the FIT India Movement. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and youth, who pedalled with passion and determination despite challenging weather conditions. J&K Police officers and jawans also participated in the event. The race was flagged off by DySP Hqrs Ganderbal Shri Owais Ahmad-JKPS and DySP DAR Shri Nazir Ahmad who lauded the students and youth for their commitment to fitness and discipline.
In Shopian, the event was flagged off by ASP Shopian, Shri Rameez Rashid Bhat-JKPS, accompanied by DySP Hqrs Shopian, Shri Imtiyaz Ahmad-JKPS, in DPL Shopian with enthusiastic participation of youth from across the district. A large number of students from various educational institutions took part with great zeal. ASP Shopian, DySP Hqrs Shopian, all SHOs, and IC Police Posts also participated in the event, reflecting the collective spirit of fitness and discipline.
In Handwara, J&K Police organised a Cycle Race from Langate Chowk to BHSS Langate under the banner of the FIT India Movement. A large number of students from various educational institutions participated with great enthusiasm, showcasing their sporting spirit and determination. The race was flagged off from Langate Chowk amid encouraging support from the local community, who turned up in significant numbers to cheer the participants. At the conclusion of the event at BHSS Langate, winners and participants were felicitated with prizes and certificates in recognition of their efforts.
In Awantipora, the cycle race was flagged off by Senior Officers of Police Awantipora which started from DPL Awantipora and culminated at Y Junction Barsoo. Youth from different areas participated in the said competition. Despite continues rainfall, large number of students from various educational institutions participated with great enthusiasm. During closing ceremony, officers distributed Cash reward among the first three winners of the event.
J&K Police reaffirmed its commitment to continue organising similar programmes in the future, ensuring that the youth remain engaged in constructive pursuits and contribute positively to the society. They also urged the participants to take part in such events & promote cycling habits to maintain their physical and mental fitness.
