Founded by philanthropist Sheikh Mudasir, GAASH Academy provides free education to around 80 children and orphans from kindergarten to Class X, ensuring a brighter future for the youth.
On 22 February 2025, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 19 Infantry Division visited GAASH Academy to felicitate achievers and encourage their academic journey. The visit also included interactions with parents, who expressed their gratitude to Mudasir for his commitment to their children’s education and acknowledged the Indian Army’s continued support in fostering educational initiatives. DC Baramulla Minga Sherpa and other dignitaries from the District administration were also present on the occasion to provide their support to this initiative, further strengthening efforts to uplift education in the region.
To further strengthen the academy’s efforts, the Army donated sports kits, stationery, and financial aid of ₹4 lakhs. Previously, the Army had also provided a computer system, generator, furniture, blankets, and other essential resources to sustain the initiative.
The success of the students at GAASH Academy highlights the positive impact of structured education and mentorship in shaping young minds for a better future.
Additionally, the Dagger Division has been actively working towards women empowerment and youth engagement in Baramulla. Their key initiatives include:
Chinar YUVA Centre, a skill development hub for underprivileged youth.
Dagger Parivaar School, the only educational and care facility for specially-abled children in the district.
