
Continuing its mission to foster athletic excellence and promote a culture of sportsmanship among youth, the Department of Youth Services and Sports Ganderbal today organized the Inter School District Level Judo Championship for Boys and Girls at the Indoor Sports Complex Sehpora, Ganderbal.The championship witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 100 student players, including 58 boys and 42 girls, hailing from various schools across the district.The event showcased the spirit, discipline, and determination that define the sport of Judo. Among the standout performers were Aisha Hassan and Baiza Tariq of Hanfia School Sehpora, who have already made their mark at the National level by securing Silver medals in last year’s National Games.Their continued participation and performance in today’s competition served as an inspiration for budding Judokas in the district.Meanwhile, Zone Ganderbal conducted the Inter School Zonal Level Cricket Competition for Boys U17 at the Open Ground Fatehpora Ganderbal.The tournament featured several enthusiastic teams from across the zone, culminating in a thrilling final between New Dreamland Educational Institute and Hill Top Educational Institute, Ganderbal.
The final match was a spectacle of sporting excellence as both teams delivered outstanding performances, resulting in a rare tie. The contest proceeded to a Super Over, which again ended in a tie, leading to a Ball-Out decider. In a dramatic finish, New Dreamland Educational Institute emerged victorious in the Ball-Out. Both teams were applauded for their skill and spirit and were felicitated with trophies by senior officials of the department.
