The Department of Youth Services and Sports Ganderbal today successfully conducted the Inter-Zone District Level Football Tournament for Boys U-17 at the GCOPE ground, Gadoora.The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from all four zones of the district.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer Ganderbal, Sheikh Shafqat Iqbal, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He interacted with the student players and officials, offering valuable insights into the game of football. Mr. Iqbal emphasized the importance of maintaining physical fitness, highlighting key aspects like strength, stamina, speed, flexibility, and skill. He also encouraged the players to uphold the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship.
Thrilling Final Decided by Penalty Shootout
The final match saw a fierce contest between Zone Ganderbal and Zone Tullamulla. Both teams displayed exceptional skills and resilience, keeping the scoreboard unchanged through regular play.The match was ultimately decided by a penalty shootout, in which Zone Ganderbal triumphed by scoring three goals to Zone Tullamulla's one, clinching the championship.Both finalists were awarded trophies by Dr. Showkat Hussain Assistant Professor GCOPE Gadoora along with senior officials of the department.
