Ganderbal, Sep 15: J&K Police in Ganderbal under Civic Action Programme (CAP), today inaugurated a T-20 Knockout Cricket Tournament at Madr-e-Meharban Qamariya Stadium, Ganderbal, aimed at promoting sports, youth engagement and positive community participation.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by DySP Headquarters Ganderbal Dr. Urfan-JKPS and DySP DAR Ganderbal Shri Altaf Khan-JKPS. The tournament has witnessed enthusiastic participation of 64 teams from across District Ganderbal, providing local youth with a platform to showcase their cricketing talent and pursue their sporting aspirations. The inauguration match was played between Libra Saloora vs Same Stars Nunner, which was won by Libra Saloora. Player of the match was declared Aqib Parra of Libra Saloora.
Addressing the gathering, the senior officers commended the participating teams for their enthusiasm and sportsmanship and emphasized the important role of sports in promoting discipline, teamwork, physical fitness and mental well-being. They further highlighted that such initiatives provide youth with constructive avenues for growth and help them stay away from drugs and other negative influences.
The initiative reflects Police's continued commitment towards youth empowerment, community engagement and fostering a healthy and drug-free society through sports.
