Government Degree College Doda has once again made its mark in the sports arena by finishing as Runner-Up in the prestigious 47th Intercollegiate Annual Athletic Meet 2025. Competing against 40 colleges, GDC Doda secured an impressive overall 2nd position with 35 points, narrowly missing the top spot by just 3 points.
Adding to the college’s glory, Leela Parshad of GDC Doda was declared as Best Athlete of the Meet after clinching three gold medals, a remarkable achievement that highlights his exceptional talent and dedication.
Outstanding Individual Performances:
Leela Parshad – 3 Gold in 5000m, 10000m, and 4x 400m Rellay race (Best Athlete of the Meet)
Nikhil Kumar – Gold in 4x400 rellay, 2 Silver in 800 m and 1500m.
Tofail – Gold in 4x400m rellay
Bikram – Gold in 4x400m rellay
Adnan – 1 Silver in Javellin throw.
Ikhlaq – 1 Silver in High Jump
Junaid – Bronze in 200m
Among girls, Sonika and Sanjna put up a strong fight and secured 4th and 5th position in the 3000m and 5000m race.
Principal of the college Dr Javed Iqbal Zarger expressed immense pride in the college’s performance, commending the athletes for their hard work and perseverance. "This is a moment of great honor for GDC Doda. Our students have demonstrated outstanding determination and sportsmanship, and we are confident that they will achieve even greater heights in the future," he stated.
He along with all the faculty members appreciated the efforts of Lt Dr. Jaswant Singh Physical Education Director of the college and Dr Imran Assad for their crucial role in guiding and motivating the athletes to success. Their relentless efforts in training and mentorship contributed significantly to this remarkable achievement.
