Geelani concerned with Yasin Malik’s deteriorating health in prison

August 05, 2019 | BK DESK/SRINAGAR

Expressing concern about the deteriorating health of senior pro-freedom leader and JKLF chairman Mohammad Yaseen Malik, All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman, Syed Ali Geelani on Sunday said that, “Indian rulers are power intoxicated to such an extent that they themselves disobey and disrespect their own laws.”
APHC Chairman said that he was saddened by the details given in the press conference by sisters of Yasin Malik.
“The fascist forces are drenched with the venom of revenge and hatred which makes their attitude towards helpless prisoners not only pathetic, careless but criminal as well,” he said.
Geelani said that whenever somebody is jailed it is the responsibility of authorities to ensure his safety and when the person is already suffering from various ailments, he should be provided with timely medical care.
The veteran pro-freedom leader said that Yaseen Malik is suffering from heart and kidney ailments and needs regular medical care and if authorities are reluctant to provide him medical aid they should release him so that we take care of him ourselves.
“India for its accused citizens knocks the doors of international courts and tries its best to get justice and fair play for them, but when it comes to poor Kashmiris, it acts as deaf and dumb,” Geelani said.
Geelani said that most of the prisoners particularly those outside Kashmir are not keeping well as they neither get a proper diet or timely medical aid nor they get the legal assistance. “Those include Shabir Ahmad Shah, Masarat Aalam Bhat, Dr G. M. Bhat, Asiya Indrabi, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Raja Mehraj-ud-din Kalwal, Fehmeeda Sofi, Nahida Nasreen, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Shahi-ul-Islam, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Zahoor Ahmad Watali, Syed Shahid Yousuf, Syed Shakeel Ahmad,” he said.
The Hurriyat chairman appealed the human and prisoners’ rights bodies to acknowledge the slow poising of our people in Indian jails and ensure their safety.
Commenting on the war scenario in the state created by Indian rulers, Hurriyat Chairman said that we all need to fight it out collectively with unity and brotherhood, as it is Muslims of this state who are targeted.
Geelani also appealed to the world powers particularly the Muslim world to take serious note of the grim situation in the Valley and help us to be rescued from the cruel and barbaric clutches of India.
