
Pulwama, Jan 19: Police in Pulwama successfully concluded the Girls’ Volleyball Tournament at Sports Stadium Newa under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2025–26, aimed at promoting sports culture, youth engagement and women empowerment.
The closing ceremony was graced by SSP Pulwama Ms. Tanushree-IPS, along with other senior officers of the district. Speaking on the occasion, SSP Pulwama, emphasized that sports play a crucial role in the holistic development of youth and act as a positive outlet for their energy. She stated that Pulwama Police will continue to organize such initiatives under the Civic Action Programme to encourage young girls, nurture their talent and keep them away from negative influences.
In the final match, Elite Queens Volleyball Club, Putrigam clinched the championship title and was awarded a cash prize of ₹18,000 along with a trophy. Elite Spikers Volleyball Club emerged as runners-up and received a cash prize of ₹11,000 and a trophy. Sports uniforms were also distributed to both the winning and runner-up teams. To recognize individual excellence, the Player of the Match was awarded ₹1,500, while the Player of the Tournament received ₹3,000, along with trophies.
J&K Police reiterated their commitment to promoting sports and women empowerment as effective tools for building confidence, discipline and teamwork among youth. The event concluded on a positive note with appreciation for all participating teams, officials and organizers for the smooth and successful conduct of the tournament.
