Kohima , May 19: General Officer Commanding (GOC) Spear Corps paid solemn homage to the fallen heroes at the Kohima War Cemetery, honouring the supreme sacrifice made by soldiers who laid down their lives in service of the nation.

The GOC laid wreaths at the cemetery and observed a moment of respect in memory of the brave soldiers, underscoring the enduring legacy of their courage and sacrifice. The Kohima War Cemetery stands as a significant symbol of remembrance, particularly linked to the historic battles of World War II.
During the visit, the GOC also interacted with personnel and reiterated the importance of upholding the values of duty, discipline, and commitment to national security.
Later, he visited the Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (North), where he reviewed the operational preparedness of the formation. He was briefed on current security dynamics, deployment readiness, and coordination mechanisms in the region.
The GOC appreciated the professionalism and dedication of the troops and emphasized maintaining high levels of vigilance and operational efficiency in view of evolving security challenges in the Northeast.
He also highlighted the importance of continued synergy between the Army and Assam Rifles in ensuring peace, stability, and security in the region.
