Jammu, April 5: The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police has reiterated a complete ban on the use of pressure horns across the Union Territory, warning that strict legal action will be taken against violators.

The directive follows the ruling of the Supreme Court of India in the case Abhay Singh vs State of Uttar Pradesh and Others, which prohibits all types of pressure horns.
Authorities stated that using such horns constitutes an offence under Section 190(2) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, carrying penalties of up to Rs 10,000 in fines and imprisonment for up to six months.
Banned devices include air pressure horns, musical horns, reverse horns, hooters, trumpets, and other noise-producing instruments that violate Rule 119 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
Vehicle owners have been instructed to remove these devices immediately, with officials cautioning that failure to comply will result in strict enforcement. The public has also been urged to cooperate in reducing noise pollution and ensuring compliance with regulations across Jammu and Kashmir.
