Handwara Titans win North Kashmir Women’s Cricket title

Kupwara, Nov 7 : North Kashmir Women's Cricket Championship -2025 (5th Edition) was organised by Indian Army's Kupwara Terriers at remote village of Hirri Kupwara from 29 Sep to 07 Nov 2025. One of the most sought for sports event of North Kashmir, this women cricket Championship 2025 concluded with scintillating performances from both the finalist teams.

A total of 280 women cricketers of Sixteen women Cricket teams from Kupwara comprising of players from North Kashmir districts including Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora have participated in this Championship.
The final match was played between Handwara Titans and WCC Kupwara. The final witnessed an exciting performance by both teams.
WCC Kupwara won the toss and opted to bat first. WCC Kupwara scored 88 runs in alloted 12 overs fir the loss of 6 wkts. Handwara Titans chased the target in 11.4 overs and lifted the coveted *North Kashmir Women's Cricket Championship* Season-V Trophy for the Year 2025. Nusrat Irshad of Handwara Titans was declared player of the series for her all-round performance with both bat and ball...She scored 108 runs and took 5 wkts in the championship. Maryem of Royal Star Lolab won Range Cap for being the highest run scorer of the Championship where as Ifra Lefty of WCC Kupwara was adjudged as Purple Cap winner for her 8 wkts in the Championship.
Prominent personalities from Hirri and near by villages graced the ocassion. Mr Bilal Qutub Principal Hr Sec School Hirri, Mr Yahya Sultan President of journalist Association Kupwara and Mr Rahie Mushtaq reporter from national TV News channel enjoyed the event.
Commanding Officer Kupwara Terriers alongwith other army officers witnessed the final match and closing ceremony in which winner and runner teams were presented with trophies and Cash prize by the Indian Army to motivate these young girls to pursue their passion of Cricket. The Commanding Officer appreciated the efforts put by these young girls from remote areas of North Kashmir. He also praised the Josh of the girls who despite all odds had come forward and participated in the tournament. The Officer also suggested youth to come forward and participate in such tournaments as it will help them to channelize their energies in positive direction and will also help them to stay away from drugs and other social evils.
Indian Army remains in the forefront of encouraging sporting events in Kupwara to boost the culture of sports and enable the girls to come out and participate in sporting activities.
