With the arrival of the Islamic month of Ramadan, the controversy over watermelon got started. In Kashmir, the importance of water melon increased during the Islamic month of Ramadan. It has been just 5 years since the Islamic month shifted to winter. After a couple of years, it will shift to harsh winters. The Islamic calendar has 354 to 355 days. It means 10 to 11 days less than the Gregorian calendar. Alhamdulillah, the holy month is passing, and Muslim Ummah in Kashmir are enjoying fasting from dawn to dusk. Watermelon is not the only food to be consumed this month. The Almighty has bestowed on us unlimited food items for our survival. We can take other food items as alternatives for the watermelons. Some people have concerns for our health, and some are mean with money, and they always prioritize their business. As we have been experiencing for the last week, the doctor fraternity has utterly had issues with the consumption of watermelon, and some people who are earning their livelihood with watermelon are trying their best to motivate people and expand their market.

We know that the market for watermelon has increased to certain limits during the holy month of Ramadan. Muslims consume watermelon at the time of iftar due to its great and immense health benefits. It keeps you hydrated and quenches your thirst.
In the future, after passing every year, the holy month will shift to winter for 15 years. After three years, one Ramadan shifts to next month. The Islamic calendar has less than 10 days.

Role of Government Administration

The government should interfere in any controversy as soon as possible. As we know today, social media is playing a negative as well as positive role among people. There are some You Tubers and news channels who do not have adequate knowledge and are discussing unnecessarily each and every issue. The government has proper channels, manpower, and technology through which administration can go to any extent for the safeguarding of the general public.
People who are related to the fruit business can introduce new varieties during the holy month of Ramadan, which has great and immense health benefits, and earn their livelihoods.
Why are we after watermelons? We should stop discussing whether watermelons are good for health or not. If we have choices, then quit and look for other food items at the time of iftar.
