
Minister for Health Sakeena Itoo chaired a detailed review meeting at Civil Secretariat to assess the Health Department’s action plan under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s Vision 2030, aligned with J&K Vision 2047, aimed at strengthening public healthcare across the region.
The meeting focused on upgrading healthcare infrastructure, enhancing primary and secondary services, optimizing human resources, adopting modern medical technologies, and ensuring last-mile delivery, especially in rural areas. Officers were urged to ensure timely implementation, efficient resource use, and a people-centric approach.
Minister Sakeena directed immediate deployment of new ambulances, rationalization of NHM staff to address shortages, and an incentive scheme for personnel in remote areas. She also stressed strengthening the Anti-Fraud Unit of the Sehat Scheme and cracking down on malpractice.
On food safety, the Minister called for enhanced surveillance and strict action against violators. The Health Department was tasked with building a resilient, inclusive, and accountable system to deliver universal healthcare and meet evolving public needs.
