July 29, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Doda, July 29: Authorities on Wednesday ordered the closure of all government and private schools across Doda district and in most parts of Kishtwar district following continuous heavy rainfall and worsening weather conditions.

The precautionary measure has been taken to ensure the safety of students, teachers and other school staff as the region continues to experience intense rainfall.

Officials said that all educational institutions in Doda district will remain closed for the day. Similar directions have also been issued for most areas of Kishtwar district due to the ongoing adverse weather and the risk of rain related incidents.

The Chenab Valley has been witnessing relentless rainfall over the past several days, increasing the threat of landslides, flash floods, shooting stones and disruptions to road connectivity.

The administration has urged residents to remain alert, avoid nonessential travel and strictly follow official advisories until the weather situation improves.
