HG&CD celebrate 63rd Raising Day in Srinagar

The 63rd Annual Raising Day of Home Guards & Civil Defence (HG & CD) was celebrated today at the headquarters of SDRF 1st Battalion Srinagar. The event featured a march past by contingents from HG, CD, SDRF, NDRF and a pipe band.

The salute was taken by Ramesh Angral, DIG Director Home Guards Kashmir, as Chief Guest, while Imtiyaz Hussain Mir, DIG Director Civil Defence & SDRF Kashmir, attended as Guest of Honour. Senior officers, volunteers, wardens and prominent citizens also participated.
In recognition of exemplary bravery and public service during crises such as the April 2025 Pahalgam attack and the November 14 Nowgam police station explosion, civilians were awarded Commendation Certificates along with cash rewards of ₹10,000 each. Volunteers and Civil Defence wardens also received ₹5,000 each for their contributions in rescue operations, awareness drives and training camps over the past year.
The DIG (Civil Defence & SDRF) lauded the selfless service of all personnel and urged them to continue with greater zeal, dedication and commitment to public safety and disaster response
