
In a significant step to enhance security measures and to keep a vigilant eye on National Highway, Kulgam police introduced advanced surveillance technology, including wall radar and thermal screening systems on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at Navayuga Tunnel Qazigund, in Kulgam district.
The newly installed systems are designed to monitor and detect concealed contrabands, Illegal weapons, and other illicit materials within vehicles, reinforcing efforts to prevent smuggling and detect potential threats along the NHW in real time.
To assess the operational effectiveness of the newly installed system, senior officers, including the DIG (SKR) Anantnag Javid Iqbal Matoo, Commander 1 Sector RR, DIG CRPF and the SSP Kulgam Sahil Sarangal, Additional SP NHW Qazigund, Kulgam were present, who expressed their satisfaction with the newly introduced technology and highlighted its importance in bolstering the security framework.
The Navayuga Tunnel, also known as Banihal-Qazigund road Tunnel, is an 8.45-kilometer long road tunnel on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
