Jammu and Kashmir Students Association on Wednesday thanked Union Home Minister and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for the approval of continuation of helicopter services on five routes in Jammu and Kashmir subsidized for five years especially Bandipora- Gurez and Kupwara-Machil- Tangdhar- Keran route.
In a Statement National Spokesperson, we expressed gratitude and sincere thanks to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for his prompt intervention to resume helicopter services on subsidized rates for five years on Bandipora- Gurez and Kupwara-Machil- Tangdhar- Keran route.
“I thank Lt Governor Manoj Sinha for taking the matter seriously with the Ministry of home affairs and resolving it on a priority basis. This will provide great relief to the student community who have been waiting for air connectivity for a long time”, Khuehami said.
He said that the resumption of helicopter service was indispensable for the students who were supposed to appear in the JKSSB exams and other competitive exams.
Helicopter service is paramount for far-flung and snow-clad areas like Gurez, Tangdhar and Machil which remains cut off from the rest of Union territory and country for almost six months because of inclement weather. The helicopter service is the only means to provide them round-the-year access to the rest of Union territory, he added.
