
Reviews flagship schemes in J&K, asks officials to ensure people get direct benefits
For the second consecutive day, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan led a high-level meeting at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, focusing on development of J&K.
The Home Secretary led a high- level meeting at SKICC today. It was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and top officials from police, security agencies and civil administration.
Sources said the meeting reviewed the progress of centrally sponsored flagship schemes, infrastructure development projects, and employment initiatives in J&K.
The meeting also discussed the region's tourism potential and how peace and development could boost this vital sector.
The Home Secretary also sought feedback from the officials about the implementation of key developmental projects in J&K.
“The focus of the meeting was to ensure that centrally sponsored schemes directly benefit the people of Jammu and Kashmir and contribute to the region’s overall development and stability,” an official said.
Sources said Home Secretary took the feedback from the Commissioner Secretaries on the implementation of the ongoing centrally sponsored flagship schemes including, ‘One Nation, One Ration Card,’ PM Mudra Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, Bharat Jal Jeevan Mission, Smart City Mission, Broadband connectivity and other schemes.
They said the Commissioner Secretaries apprised the Union Home Secretary about the progress achieved and steps being taken to complete the targets of reaching out to the last deserving person in the queue.
After chairing the meeting at SKICC, Home Secretary concluded his 2-day Kashmir visit and left for New Delhi.
He had arrived in Srinagar on Monday and chaired a security review meeting which was attended by the top brass of the security forces.
During the security review meeting, he asked the security agencies to adopt a balanced approach—fostering community relationships while taking firm action against terror.
“A holistic strategy that combines people-friendly measures with uncompromising counter-terrorism efforts is essential for a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
