Hot, dry weather to continue till June 10: MeT

Srinagar, June 7: The Meteorological Department has forecast generally hot and dry weather across Jammu and Kashmir till June 10.

According to Director Meteorological Department Kashmir Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, the weather conditions are expected to remain largely hot and dry in Jammu and Kashmir from June 7 to June 10.
He said that from June 11 to June 14, the weather is likely to remain partly to generally cloudy, with light rain, brief intense showers, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds expected at scattered to many places across the Union Territory.
Ahmad warned of the possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms and gusty winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, accompanied by brief intense showers at isolated to scattered locations during the period.
He cautioned that brief intense rainfall in parts of Kashmir and Jammu divisions may trigger flash floods, mudslides and localized flooding in vulnerable areas between June 11 and June 14.
The MeT Department has advised residents, farmers and travelers to remain alert and follow official weather updates during the forecast period.
