The security agencies have launched a massive crackdown on terrorists and their sympathisers in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, razing homes of four more terrorists, raiding their safe havens and detaining hundreds of overground workers for questioning. The crackdown has been extended to Srinagar.
On Friday night, the house of active LeT terrorist Ahsan ul Haq Sheikh in the Muran area of Pulwama district was blown up by security. He
In a similar action in Chotipora of the Shopian district, the house of an active top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Shahid Ahmad Kuttay was demolished.
At the Matalhama area of the Kulgam district, the residence of LeT terrorist Zakir Ahmad Ganie, who has been active since 2023, was demolished.
In the evening the house of a LeT terrorist Farooq Ahmed Tedwa was blown up in Kupwara.
With this, houses of six militants have been blown up in Kashmir in two days.
The security forces have launched massive crackdown going after the terrorist associates and their sympathisers in the Valley after Pahalgam attack.
Terrorists on Tuesday opened fire in Baisaran, a popular tourist spot in the upper reaches of Pahalgam in Anantnag district, killing 25 tourists and a local resident.
During the ongoing crackdown, security forces have also picked up hundreds of overground workers (OWGs) and their supporters — mostly in four south Kashmir districts — in their bid to track down the terrorists who carried out the attack on Tuesday.
In Anantnag district, search operations are being carried out round-the-clock as security forces step up vigilance.
Over the last four days , joint teams of the Anantnag Police, Army, CRPF, and other agencies have been conducting extensive cordon and search operations across the district, targeting suspected hideouts and support networks.
“As part of these operations, numerous raids were conducted at various locations throughout the district. Day and night search operations are underway with heightened vigilance. So far, around 175 suspected have been detained for questioning to dismantle the support networks aiding terrorist activities,” a police statement said.
To further enhance security, additional Mobile Vehicle Check Points (MVCPs) have been established across the Anantnag district to monitor suspicious movements and ensure public safety.
“Moreover, Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs), ambushes, and intensified patrolling have been launched, particularly in high-density forest areas, to flush out any possible terrorist presence and secure the district,” police said.
Security forces have also stepped up vigilance in Ganderbal district of central Kashmir as mountain ranges in the district are connected with Anantnag.
Police said in view of prevailing scenario so as to liquidate the threat perceptions, Ganderbal Police alongwith Army, elite Para, CRPF and SSB have adapted an aggressive approach and started combing operations especially in those areas where anti national elements can possibly take refuge or had connection with the Over ground Workers (OGWs) and other supporters.
“This time the security forces have established a sound security matrix and are strategically targeting the areas close to the forest line and close to the snow line. During this course, house to house searches are being conducted and the suspected persons are being interrogated,” Police said
