
Srinagar, October 9: Inspector General of Police Kashmir Sujit Kumar on Friday visited the revered shrine of Hazrat Sheikh Nooruddin Noorani (RA) at Charar-i-Sharief in Budgam district to assess security and other arrangements ahead of the annual Urs.
During the visit, the IGP reviewed the measures put in place to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the religious gathering, which attracts thousands of devotees from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters, Kumar said various departments were working in coordination to facilitate devotees and ensure the hassle-free observance of the Urs.
He acknowledged the efforts of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force and civil administration in making the necessary arrangements.
“Elaborate arrangements have been made. All wings, including Police, CRPF, Health, Fire and Emergency Services, are working together on ground,” he said.
The IGP also offered prayers at the shrine, seeking peace, prosperity and progress for Jammu and Kashmir, along with the well-being of police personnel.
The annual Urs of Sheikh-ul-Aalam, Hazrat Sheikh Nooruddin Noorani (RA), is observed at Charar-i-Sharief with religious devotion and draws a large gathering of devotees who visit the shrine to offer prayers and pay their respects.
