IMD issues heatwave alert for five Jammu districts

Jammu, April 26: The India Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert for five districts in the Jammu region, warning of hot and dry conditions over the next two days.

According to an IMD official, districts including Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Reasi, and Udhampur are likely to experience heatwave conditions at isolated places on April 26 and 27.
Residents have been advised to avoid direct exposure to the sun during peak afternoon hours and to stay well-hydrated.
Meanwhile, in the Kashmir region, the weather is expected to remain generally pleasant and dry, with chances of light rainfall over the next 48 hours.
“Light rain or thundershowers may occur at several places, accompanied by gusty winds or hailstorms at a few locations during the evening hours of April 27 and 28,” the official said.
The weather is expected to turn dry again on April 29 and 30.
Currently, maximum temperatures in Kashmir are ranging between 17°C and 22°C, while the minimum temperature recorded was around 9°C.
