His work with Doordarshan, particularly as a key figure in Kus Bani Koshur Karorepaet, a Kashmiri adaptation of Kaun Banega Crorepati has made him a well-known personality in media and cultural programming. As the General Secretary of Kashmir Markazi Adab wa Saqafat, a literary and cultural organization in the region, Inayat Gul has been instrumental in organizing numerous literary functions, seminars, and discussions. Gul has been published in many literary journals of Markaz-e-Noor, University of Kashmir and Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Languages as Poet and writer. He has written many research papers on Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA). His prominent write up “Be kus Reish me Kya Naaw” has been published by the support of ministry of culture which includes the contribution of Prominent Sufi saints. He has also written monographs on Tak Zainageeri, Ali Mohammad Shabaz and Haji Ilyaz. He has edited almost eighty books of Contemporary and Sufi poets. He has participated in many seminars, workshops and conferences all over the country recommended by Sahitya Akademi and J&K Cultural Academy which includes Maharashtra, Manipur, Asam, Tamil Nadu, Bengal, Kerela, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Bhootan and other places. He is Chief Editor of literary journal ‘IZTIRAB’. Gul is recipient of many awards including National Award 2005, Gowhar memorial Award, Life foundation Award, Tak Zainageeri Award and Khilat-e-Noor award. He served as an Assistant Director at Hillman Mumbai Film Division in films made on Raj Begum and Mohammad Zaman Aazudrdah.
His work continues to inspire future generations to embrace their linguistic and cultural heritage, making him one of the most influential literary voices from Charar-e-Sharief, Jammu and Kashmir.
