India shines at Junior Wushu Championship

Tianjin City, China : The Indian Wushu team delivered an outstanding and historic performance at the 10th World Junior Wushu Championship 2026, establishing a strong presence on the international stage. The team won a total of 3 Gold, 2 Silver, and 4 Bronze medals, bringing great pride to the nation.

In the final bouts of the championship, Indian athletes displayed high-level technique, confidence, and exceptional sportsmanship. India particularly dominated in the Sanda (fighting) events.

Sanda Event Results:

45 kg (Boys): Thongam Upendro – Gold Medal
52 kg (Junior Boys): Nongmaithem Pamheiba – Gold Medal
52 kg (Youth Boys): Loitongbam Victor – Gold Medal
48 kg (Youth): Yuvraj – Silver Medal
48 kg (Junior): Gautam Mankas – Bronze Medal
48 kg (Youth): Anu – Bronze Medal
In the Taolu (artistic) events, Indian athletes also delivered excellent performances and secured medals:

Taolu Event Results:

Rajkumari Lanchenbi Chanu (Changquan Girls) – Bronze Medal
Konthoujam Devikarani Devi (Taijiquan/Taijijian) – 1 Silver and 1 Bronze Medal
This performance clearly indicates that India is rapidly emerging as a strong force in the sport of Wushu. The success is a result of the athletes’ hard work, dedicated coaching, and continuous efforts by the federation, strengthening India’s position at the global level.
On this remarkable achievement, the officials of the Wushu Association of India and the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, extended their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all the athletes.
Chairman of the Wushu Association of India, Mr. Bhupender Singh Bajwa, stated that Indian players will deliver even better performances in the future and continue to make the country proud.
