
New Delhi/Jaipur, Jan 14: The Indian Army commemorated Veteran’s Day 2026 across its stations with fervour, hosting welfare events for Veterans, Veer Naris, and their families at locations including New Delhi, Jaipur, Amritsar, Lucknow, Ranchi, and Rajouri.
At Jaipur Military Station, under South Western Command, COAS General Upendra Dwivedi presided over the celebrations. He attended the Army Veteran’s Day Lunch at Polo Ground, interacting with Veterans and Veer Naris, and acknowledging their contributions to the Army and the nation. Officials of Zila Sainik Boards were felicitated, and the ‘Samman’ magazine by the Directorate of Indian Army Veterans was released. Ms Sunita Dwivedi, President of AWWA, honoured Veer Naris and Veer Matas.
In his address, the COAS paid tribute to fallen soldiers and emphasised the Army’s commitment to Veteran welfare. He highlighted ongoing modernisation, operational readiness, and technology infusion while praising Veterans as role models and ambassadors of the Army’s ethos.
During the Investiture Ceremony, gallantry and service awards were presented, including 10 Sena Medals (Gallantry), 49 COAS Unit Citations, and 60 COAS Certificates of Appreciation (26 linked to Operation Sindoor). Six Veteran Achievers and three civilians were also felicitated for notable contributions supporting the Army.
The celebrations will continue on Jan 15 with the Army Day Parade at Mahal Road, Jaipur, followed by Shaurya Sandhya at Sawai Man Singh Stadium, showcasing the Indian Army’s professionalism, operational capability, and its bond with the people.
