
The much-awaited Inter-District Divisional Level Kho-Kho Tournament for Boys (All Age Groups) began today with zeal and sporting spirit at the Indoor Sports Stadium Doda. The event is being organized as per the approved annual sports calendar under the banner of the Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K.
As many as 150 budding players from across Jammu Division districts have assembled to showcase their discipline, agility and competitive spirit.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Subedar Major Chain Singh, (International Shooter) who inspired the athletes with the mantra “Jeetega aur Seekhega” (One will win, the other will learn).
Sharing his journey from a humble village background to representing India at the Olympics, he urged players to stay dedicated and focused.
Addressing the gathering, Special Guest Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh appreciated the arrangements made for the event and encouraged the players to compete in true sportsmanship. He also commended the DYSSO Doda for excellent organization and hospitality for participants.
Senior Superintendent of Police Sandeep Mehta, Guest of honour, also motivated the athletes, urging them to maintain discipline on and off the field.
The event began with the “Nasha Mukt Bharat” pledge affirming commitment to a drug-free society followed by the formal declaration of the opening of the tournament—marking the start of an exciting sporting extravaganza.
This mega sports festival is being held under the visionary leadership of Anuradha Gupta, Director General YSS J&K, whose dynamic guidance continues to inspire and empower the youth of the Union Territory.
The tournament has further gained momentum with the active support and Guidance of Vinakshi Koul, Joint Director and the encouragement of District Development Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, a consistent promoter of youth-oriented activities in the district.
At the district level, the championship is being smoothly conducted under the supervision of District Youth Services & Sports Officer Doda, Jaffar Haider Sheikh, whose tireless efforts for nurturing young talent have been widely lauded. Mr. Sheikh welcomed the dignitaries and extended best wishes to all participating teams.
