
The Inter-Zonal District Level Tournament organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Doda concluded today with spirited participation of boys and girls in the age groups of U-14, U-17 and U-19.
The 25-day-long sports event was held under the directions of Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K UT Anuradha Gupta and Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh.
The tournament was conducted under the guidance of Joint Director Jammu Vinakshi Koul and overall supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jaffar Haider Sheikh.
Over 4000 student-athletes from across the district participated in 25 different sports disciplines, with events hosted at various venues across all ten educational zones Doda, Bhaderwah, Gundna, Ghat, Assar, Bhatyas, Bhalessa, Bhagwah, Bhalla and Assar.
The highlight of the concluding day was the enthusiastic participation of over 200 girls in athletics events. The day featured: Track Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 1500m races. Jumping Events: Long Jump and High Jump. Throwing Events: Shot Put, Discus Throw and Javelin Throw
Before the events began, the participants took an oath and also pledged under the "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan", affirming their commitment to a drug-free lifestyle and to upholding the true spirit of sportsmanship.
The tournament, which commenced on 12th July 2025, culminated successfully today with a grand closing ceremony held at Government Degree College Bhaderwah. The venue echoed with cheers and applause as athletes were felicitated for their outstanding performances.
To honor their dedication and achievements, medals, trophies and certificates were awarded to the winners and runners-up during the closing ceremony.
All competitions were officiated by a trained panel of experts from the department, including PELs, PEMs, PETs, REKs, ground staff and NYC volunteers.
