Iran War 2026

April 28, 2026 | Shaziya Hassan

The Iran War 2026 is a major conflict that began in late February 2026. It is being fought between Iran and a coalition led by the United States and Israel. The war started after large-scale airstrikes were carried out by the United States and Israel on Iran’s nuclear facilities and military bases. During these strikes, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed. Prior to this, there had been a brief conflict in June 2025, and nuclear negotiations had failed.

In retaliation, Iran launched numerous missiles and drones targeting Israel and American bases in the Gulf region. The conflict has now spread across multiple countries. Cyberattacks are ongoing, major oil routes have been disrupted, and fuel prices have surged. Many people have lost their lives, and countless others have been displaced. Iran has also broken its earlier commitment not to develop nuclear weapons. This war is affecting global peace, economic stability, and the daily lives of ordinary people worldwide.

What Iran Blocked

Blocking / Restricting the Strait of Hormuz
The most significant action taken was the restriction of the Strait of Hormuz:
Iran halted oil tankers and cargo ships from passing through.
Naval forces were deployed in the region.
The route became dangerous due to mines, drones, and missile threats.

Direct impact

Global oil supply was disrupted.
The shipping industry faced near collapse.
A large portion of the world’s oil supply passes through this route.
Restrictions on Foreign Ships and Naval Movement
Ships from Western countries were targeted.
Tankers were stopped, inspected, or seized.
Some vessels were forced to turn back.

Maritime trade was severely disrupted.
The Gulf region began to be considered unsafe.

Stoppage of Oil Exports

Iran’s economy depends heavily on oil, but:
Due to war and sanctions, exports were halted.
Oil terminals and ports came under pressure.

Iran suffered financial losses.
A global oil shortage developed.

Internet and Communication Restrictions

Internet access was slowed or shut down.
Media and information flow were restricted.
Public awareness was limited.
The government maintained tighter control over the situation.

Damages Caused by the Iran War

Global Oil Crisis (Biggest Impact)
Oil supply dropped suddenly.
Markets experienced panic.
Prices rose sharply.
Petrol, diesel, and gas prices increased worldwide.
Inflation and Economic Instability
When oil prices rise, a chain reaction occurs:
Transportation costs increase.
Production becomes more expensive.
Everyday goods become costlier.
Inflation surged.
The global economy weakened.
Collapse of Trade and Shipping
Ships were forced to take longer alternative routes.
Insurance costs rose significantly.
Deliveries were delayed.
Supply chains were disrupted.
Global trade slowed down.

Energy Crisis

Gas and LNG supplies were affected.
Pressure increased on electricity production.

Risk of power shortages.
Industries faced negative impacts.

Direct Impact on Countries Like India

Countries dependent on Gulf oil faced serious challenges:
Oil imports became more expensive.
Petrol and diesel prices increased.
Economic pressure intensified.
Common people were the most affected.
Military and Human Losses
Missile and drone attacks caused destruction.
Infrastructure was damaged.
Civilians and soldiers lost their lives.
Long-term effects:
Refugee crises.
Rising poverty levels.

Iran’s Own Losses

The economy was already weakened by sanctions.
The war worsened the situation.
The currency declined.
Businesses and jobs were lost.

Risk of Global War

Multiple countries became indirectly involved.
Proxy groups became active.
The risk of further escalation increased.

Long-Term Global Changes

Countries are seeking alternative oil routes.
Interest in renewable energy is rising.
The global energy system is gradually shifting.

Main Effects of the Iran War

Disruption of oil supply
Inflation and economic crisis
Disturbances in trade and shipping
Energy shortages
Global instability and increased risk of war

Conclusion

The Iran War 2026 has shown how deeply interconnected the global economy is. Even the disruption of a single route like the Strait of Hormuz can have worldwide consequences.
This conflict is not just a regional issue—it has turned into a global economic and energy crisis, with effects that are likely to continue for many years.
