Srinagar, Sep 22: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said the government is taking several measures to expand and diversify tourism in the Jammu region and develop it as a year-round tourist destination.

Speaking in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister said the administration is focusing on improving infrastructure and developing both established and emerging tourist destinations across Jammu Division.

He said development projects have been planned at destinations including Suchetgarh, Shiv Khori, Bhaderwah, Basohli and Mansar to improve facilities and enhance the overall experience for visitors.

Omar Abdullah also highlighted the ongoing development of five pilgrimage circuits, covering important religious destinations such as Mansar, Shiv Khori, Uttarvehni and Purmandal.

He said the government is also focusing on sustained tourism promotion at the local, national and international levels. Promotional activities include participation in travel expos and marts, tourism festivals and digital publicity campaigns.

According to the Chief Minister, the initiatives are aimed at increasing the visibility of Jammu’s tourism destinations and creating additional livelihood opportunities for local residents.

He said the expansion of tourism could support employment through homestays, tour guides and other tourism-related services.
